A Founder's Vision
In 2012, while playing with a baseball club in South Perth, I underwent multiple surgeries for injuries sustained during a practice match a couple of weeks prior to my last junior nationals tournament. Needing a distraction during recovery, I stumbled upon a camera and lens listing on Gumtree.
Building a portfolio, I landed my first gig photographing an end-of-season windup. After the event, and the photos were posted, one of the attendees messaged me saying how much they loved the photos. They had a Christmas event coming up for their company and asked if I'd be happy to take some photos.
Over time I did events from coporate meet-and-greets, Christmas parties, birthdays, and over time eventually began working on larger productions like music videos, short and feature films. As my skills and outlook evolved, so did my business goals and values.
I ventured into trying to build semi-passive systems, and despite initial setbacks with three e-commerce ventures—Men’s Grooming, Health and Fitness, and a fidget craze-themed store—I persisted in developing myself and my approach to business.
It was a blast learning about marketing, branding, and undertsanding the value of creating a community that surrounded the brand. Recognizing the importance for systems and processes to streamline operations to help build and manage something great, I dove into learning about digital infrastructure and automation.
My goal became very clear-helping bring ideas and visions to life. Markham Media became a hub for creatives and designers, fostering innovation and personal growth.
